He tells Rachel in an email that on this visit she is an ambassador for the Chow family. Getting to the Easter Islands is one of the reasons that it took us a while to sort out our round-the-world flight. An expensive USD0 flight in its own right, we wanted to get it included in our ticket without paying over the top. Eventually we manage to find a good value round-the-world fare that allows us 4 free internal flights within each continent we visit; a return trip to the Easter Island uses up two of those sectors in South America. The flight out takes over 5 hours from Santiago, because it is nearly 4000km distant from the continent. The flight progress monitor on the TV screens of the plane shows the text for the Easter Islands, but the landmass is so small there is nothing else but blue ocean everywhere else. Eventually we look out the window and see a little green island far below, isolated in the vast Pacific ocean, with blue water strtching into the distance as far as the eye can see. We met so many people here in a brief chill out week after the Kalalua Trail in Hawaii. We were surprised to see so many similarities in Fiji to home, the food for one is surprisingly similar albeit with the addition of fantastic indian food. We didn’t move around too much here, just stayed in our resort for got stuck into the water activities. We both done an introduction scuba dive which was fantastic, even 30 meters or so out from the shore there were all sorts of coral and millions of tropical fish. We had arranged to stop in Honalulu to break the flight and have 3 days of pure relaxation before finally arriving home. However, by this time we were ready to just get home. The trip had been fantastic but living out of a suitcase and moving locations on a regular basid can be very tiring. We arrived in Honalulu with Matt and Alex quite ill. They couldn’t be too far from a toilet. The hotel that we were initially booked into (Aston) was not what we wanted for 3 days of relaxation. The pool was dirty with rubbish in it and to get to it, you had to go under the building and through a car park, which smelt like urine. The staff were great and when we stated our displeasure, they immediately assisted us to find alternative accomodation. The Aqua Aloha Surf was just what we needed. A nice relaxing hotel with a great pool. While in Hawaii, we went to Pearl Harbour. It was very informative and interesting. It was amazing that 60 years later that oil is still leaking from the USS Arizona. They say it is the tears of America grieving their loved ones. We weren’t over impressed with Hawaii.
